Kişmir: Those with Negligence in the Incident Must Face Consequences

Kişmir emphasized that the entire system has contributed to this tragic situation, which occurred at the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia.

In a written statement, Kişmir claimed that the established system in the country has led to deaths under the guise of "work accidents," "traffic accidents," and "negligence." He argued that the incident in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a product of this flawed system, which has failed to protect even the most vulnerable members of society, inflicting deep pain on families.

Kişmir described the event as a "scandal," accusing the main responsible parties of shifting blame to those lower in the hierarchy instead of resigning. He called for those in charge to take responsibility and act sensitively, as is expected in modern countries when faced with such serious issues.

"If we want to rectify the situation, it is not just those directly involved in this incident who should be penalized, but everyone who has shown negligence throughout the entire process," Kişmir stated.

He also urged immediate action to address the collapse of the health system and the loss of lives. He suggested establishing a research committee, including the Medical Association, to thoroughly investigate the incident and ensure reliable information flow to the public and families. Kişmir emphasized the need to strengthen citizens' constitutional right to accessible, free, and public healthcare.
