White House Issues Statement on Biden-Christodoulides Meeting
The White House released a written statement regarding the meeting between U.S. President Joe Biden and President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides.
Following the launch of the U.S.-Cyprus Strategic Dialogue earlier this month, the statement said, “The leaders extensively discussed a range of foreign policy issues of mutual interest, including energy diversification, regional security, and support for Ukraine.”
The statement continued, “President Biden expressed gratitude for Cyprus’s support in providing a maritime humanitarian corridor delivering over 8,000 tons of aid to Gaza.”
Marking the 50th anniversary of Cyprus’s division, President Biden reiterated his support for a bizonal, bicommunal federation with political equality for all Cypriots in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions.
