Speaking to the Turkish News Agency Cyprus (TAK), Dr. Deniz from Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital noted that pneumothorax (collapsed lung) was not identified during the autopsy, though the infant had been treated for it. He observed wounds consistent with chest tubes inserted on both sides, likely to address a suspected pneumothorax while the infant was alive, which may explain why it was not apparent during autopsy.

Addressing reports about delayed notification, Dr. Deniz explained that the timeline of police notification is not within his scope and does not affect his autopsy report. He added that any conclusions drawn suggesting otherwise are inaccurate.

Dr. Deniz also mentioned the presence of an alcohol metabolite in the infant’s body but clarified that active alcohol was not detected. He emphasized that further analysis of tissue samples is necessary to determine whether the cause of death was related to alcohol or another condition, adding that the autopsy was requested by hospital doctors. The final determination of the cause of death will depend on the results of these advanced tests.
