The joint statement was issued by the mayors of Famagusta, Kyrenia, Çatalköy-Esentepe, Lefke, Dikmen, Değirmenlik-Akıncılar, and Mesarya, all governed by CTP.

The statement emphasized that, in light of the recent developments in Parliament, any event organized by these municipalities would exclude Öztürkler. They argued that his self-declaration was invalid, citing the inconclusive 15-round Parliament Speaker election and the presence of three invalid votes bearing double seals.

CTP’s Statement: Commitment to Democratic Processes

The CTP highlighted its commitment to democratic processes and the rule of law, declaring that they would extend full respect and cooperation to a Parliament Speaker chosen through a legitimate and democratic election. They affirmed their dedication to upholding democracy, legal principles, and fair elections.

The statement concluded with signatures from the CTP mayors:

  • Süleyman Uluçay, Mayor of Famagusta
  • Murat Şenkul, Mayor of Kyrenia
  • Ceyhun Kırok, Mayor of Çatalköy-Esentepe
  • Aziz Kaya, Mayor of Lefke
  • Yüksel Çelebi, Mayor of Dikmen
  • Ali Karavezirler, Mayor of Değirmenlik-Akıncılar
  • Ahmet Latif, Mayor of Mesarya

The mayors stated that this decision is part of their commitment to protect the integrity of the democratic process and the reputation of Parliament.
