Parliament Convenes Amid Dispute Over Session Number
The General Assembly of the Republic's Parliament convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Fazilet Özdenefe at 12:05.
Before the session commenced, a debate arose between the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) and the National Unity Party (UBP) regarding the designation of the session as the "8th and 9th session." Özdenefe insisted that this was the 8th session and requested that this be recorded in the minutes.
However, UBP-affiliated deputies argued that it should be considered the 9th session and threatened to leave the General Assembly chamber if the session proceeded under that designation.
