Irony from Harmancı to Erdoğan’s ‘New Alphabet’ Announcement: “You’re Amazing!”

Harmancı shared his reaction on social media, addressing Erdoğan’s statement about transitioning to a new 34-letter alphabet and declaring that both Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) are prepared for this change.

Harmancı commented, “President Erdoğan announced that Turkey is ready to adopt the new 34-letter alphabet (with 5 new letters) and that the TRNC is also prepared for it! Knowing that we, too, are ready, certainly puts our minds at ease. Academic work by educators and linguists will finally be rewarded!”

Expressing excitement about the “planned and systematic development” in education, Harmancı added, “Of course, the typical response in current discussions might be, ‘Are we taking letters out of the alphabet, or are you upset about adding 5 new letters, you enemies of the state?’ You’re amazing!”
