In the ministry's statement, it was highlighted that Borrell’s remarks following the 11th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Bishkek on November 6, 2024, where TRNC was represented, reflected dissatisfaction with the recognition of TRNC’s presence. The statement read, "We see Borrell's comments as an expression of discomfort with the new vision that legitimizes our standing."

The ministry emphasized that such unfounded statements cannot undermine the reality that the TRNC, established through the exercise of self-determination, is one of the two states on the island with inherent rights to sovereign equality and international status.

The statement continued, "By making this unfortunate statement, the EU has once again demonstrated its inability to remain impartial in the Cyprus issue. We call on the EU to abandon its biased stance and refrain from acting as a mouthpiece for the Greek Cypriot side."

The ministry further urged the EU to end its policy of imposing sanctions and pressure on the Turkish Cypriot side, which has chosen a two-state solution. It condemned the EU's attempts to pressure OTS members by referencing the UN Charter, labeling this as inappropriate.

The statement concluded by reaffirming that these actions only reinforce the legitimacy of the TRNC's cause, bolstering its determination to defend its position on every platform.
