Tatar: The World Has Imposed Isolation on Us for 61 Years
TRNC President Ersin Tatar highlighted the 61 years of isolation imposed on the Turkish Cypriots by the international community, describing it as a challenging struggle.
Speaking on an NTV broadcast, Tatar stated, "We gained our freedom with the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation, but the world has been isolating us for 61 years. Despite these difficulties, we continue to stand firm."
Tatar emphasized the continuous efforts to promote the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), saying, "Every day, we work to make the TRNC known. The Turkish Cypriot people fight this battle globally—not just through politicians but also through our folklore groups, athletes, musicians, and theater performers. I commend all those who strive to break through isolation and promote the TRNC."
Reiterating the resilience of the Turkish Cypriot community, Tatar stated, "Living under isolation for 61 years is not an easy fight, but we remain steadfast."
