People's Party: The Parliament Has Lost Its Credibility
A- A A+

In a written statement, HP emphasized that, over the past week, both government and opposition MPs have unlawfully created a de facto situation in an attempt to seize the position of Speaker of Parliament through coercion.

The party stated that this attitude has harmed both the state and Parliament, adding, "Unfortunately, Parliament has ceased to function as a legislative body, and its reputation has been completely shattered."

The full statement is as follows:

"PARLIAMENT HAS CEASED TO FUNCTION, ITS CREDIBILITY HAS BEEN DESTROYED"

The low-level debates and behavior witnessed in the General Assembly this morning have unfortunately tarnished the reputation of both the state and Parliament. Over the past week, both the government and internal opposition in Parliament have acted unlawfully, creating a de facto situation and attempting to control the position of Speaker through coercion, which has led to today’s unacceptable and low-level debates.

Unfortunately, Parliament has ceased to function as such, and its credibility has been destroyed. This loss of credibility began when an illegitimate government was formed two and a half years ago. All MPs who accepted and acted as if this illegitimate government were legitimate are directly or indirectly responsible for the current situation. Due to this approach, and the inability to resolve issues through immature debates, Parliament has been rendered incapable of any work for the past four months, and the public has suffered as a result.
