Alas: "We Cut the Film, A Candidate Appeared, We Chose"
Turgut Alas, the Secretary-General of the People's Party (HP), criticized the events following the election of the Speaker of the Assembly, stating, "There was a film, we cut it, a candidate appeared, we chose."
In a written statement issued through the HP Press Office, Alas criticized the current government for presenting a false image of action. He said, "For two and a half years, everything that wasn't done is now being portrayed as if it's going to happen. But the truth is, un-tendered projects, nepotism, bribery, corruption, and scandals continue to be the foundation of this illegitimate government."
Alas went on to describe the situation in the Assembly, saying, "As of today, we have seen the arrival of law and democracy in our Assembly, with a plot that could outdo any film! Those who couldn't choose each other now suddenly chose each other through legal and democratic means."
He also criticized the government's rhetoric, calling it disconnected from reality, and emphasized the persistence of corrupt practices within the administration.
Further attacking the opposition, Alas remarked, "Outside, there are cries for 'early elections,' while inside, populism under the guise of 'serving society' is being practiced. We are watching a situation where time is spent on seat games, not addressing the real problems of the people."
Alas concluded by stating that the real struggles of society are being ignored. "Unfortunately, in this system, victimhood is a costume, and the people are the real victims across all fields. The mask of the government and the passivity of the opposition are the true backdrop of this tragedy. But we will continue to remind everyone that the real owner of this country is the people."
