Şenkul Questions School Safety Measures Following Storm
Kyrenia Mayor Murat Şenkul criticized the decision not to suspend education in schools after yesterday’s severe storm, questioning the adequacy of safety assessments.
Referring to the strong winds that caused roof collapses and fires, Şenkul said, "If today's weather allows schools to open, who can guarantee that everything was thoroughly inspected and deemed safe after yesterday’s events? I’m genuinely curious."
Şenkul emphasized the risks posed by damaged power lines near schools and raised concerns about the lack of assurance against potential hazards within school premises or on routes to schools.
He concluded, "This is not just about the weather. If we want to avoid regret after an incident occurs, we need to approach these matters with a broader perspective."
