Christodoulides: "We Are at a Critical Juncture"
President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides described the 1974 Turkish intervention as a "brutal Turkish invasion." He claimed to be making extraordinary efforts to overcome the deadlock in the Cyprus issue and suggested renewed activity for resuming negotiations.
Speaking at a memorial ceremony, Christodoulides stated, "Fifty years after the brutal Turkish invasion in 1974, Cyprus faces a critical juncture in our national problem."
According to Haravgi, Christodoulides emphasized his sole desire for a "lasting and functional solution that benefits all children and residents of the island." He reiterated familiar positions, asserting that the ongoing struggle has fostered renewed movement toward returning to the negotiating table.
