936 Drivers Penalized: Speeding Tops the List

A comprehensive law enforcement and traffic inspection operation across Famagusta, Kyrenia, Omorfo, and İskele resulted in penalties for 936 drivers, with speeding and drunk driving identified as the leading offenses.

Additionally, 66 individuals found illegally inside casinos faced legal action, and 53 vehicles were impounded.

During the operation, 4,234 drivers were checked, with 936 penalized for various traffic violations. Among them, 378 were fined for speeding and 18 for driving under the influence. Three drivers were arrested.

Famagusta

Inspections of entertainment venues, bars, cafes, and other public spaces revealed no significant issues. However, 15 individuals prohibited from entering casinos were fined.

Traffic checks involving 972 drivers led to penalties for 371 offenders, including 142 for speeding, one for drunk driving, and 65 for using mobile phones while driving. Two vehicles were impounded.

Kyrenia

Similar inspections in Kyrenia found no irregularities at public venues, but 27 people were fined for illegal entry into casinos.

Traffic inspections of 1,136 drivers resulted in 215 penalties, including 41 for speeding and 10 for drunk driving. Twenty vehicles were impounded, and two drivers were arrested.

Omorfo

In Omorfo, authorities fined two individuals for carrying illegal knives. Traffic checks on 916 drivers led to 108 penalties, including 47 for speeding. One driver was arrested, and one vehicle was impounded.

İskele

In İskele, no irregularities were found at inspected public venues, but 24 individuals faced fines for illegal presence in casinos.

Traffic checks on 1,210 drivers resulted in 242 penalties, including 148 for speeding and seven for drunk driving. Thirty vehicles were impounded.

The inspections highlighted ongoing traffic and public safety issues, with authorities emphasizing the importance of compliance with laws to prevent further violations.
