TDP Grants Full Authority to Leader Çeler and Executive Board for 2025 Presidential Election
The Social Democratic Party (TDP) convened its Party Assembly (PM) this evening to discuss the upcoming 2025 presidential election, granting full authority to party leader Zeki Çeler and the Central Executive Committee (MYK) to determine the party’s candidate.
According to a statement from TDP, the meeting was attended by former President Mustafa Akıncı during its initial session. In the second session, the assembly unanimously decided to empower Çeler and the MYK to oversee the candidate selection process for the election.
The statement emphasized TDP’s long-standing commitment to principled and resolute social struggle, adding:
“TDP is determined to enter the 2025 presidential election with a visionary and capable candidate who resonates strongly with society and can provide the leadership the public needs. The party has tasked the leader and MYK with carrying out the necessary preparations toward this goal.”
Participatory Approach to Guide Candidate Selection
The decision outlined that a participatory process will be adopted, considering the opinions and preferences of both the party base and the broader public. The MYK has been authorized to conduct all technical and political activities needed for this process.
Results of the MYK’s efforts will be reviewed and evaluated by the Party Assembly before the party announces its final decision to the public, the statement concluded.
