The global average temperature reached 15.10°C, surpassing the 1991-2020 average by 0.72°C and exceeding the previous record set in 2023 by 0.12°C.

This marks the first time a year has exceeded the pre-industrial average (1850-1900) by 1.5°C. In comparison, 2023 surpassed the pre-industrial baseline by 1.48°C.

A new daily global temperature record was set on July 22, 2024, with 17.16°C.

Every month from January to June 2024 was hotter than the same month in previous years, and 2024 recorded the hottest summer ever.

Copernicus Climate Change Service Director Carlo Buontempo stated:
"All international global temperature datasets confirm 2024 as the warmest year since records began in 1850. Humanity holds responsibility for its destiny, and our response to the climate challenge must rely on evidence. The future is in our hands. Swift and decisive action can still alter the trajectory of our climate."
