The department highlighted that Air Traffic Control Services at Ercan began in March 1977, and all operations align with ICAO, ECAC, and EASA regulations. Expressing readiness to cooperate with Greek Cypriot aviation authorities, the department stated that Greek Cypriot institutions treat TRNC organizations as illegal entities, hindering collaboration.

In a written statement, the department said, "Ercan Air Traffic and Civil Aviation are fully prepared for collaboration on aircraft handovers and all aviation matters. It is the Greek Cypriot side that rejects this cooperation and treats us unlawfully."

The statement further noted that air traffic controllers at Ercan are licensed after completing courses organized by Turkey's State Airports Authority (DHMİ) and undergo additional local training. This licensing procedure mirrors global standards, ensuring the highest level of flight safety. The department emphasized that errors by Greek Cypriot controllers have been averted multiple times.

Statistics reveal significant growth in air traffic at Ercan Airport despite embargoes and isolation. Transit flights increased from 166,168 in 2010 to 204,810 in 2024. Similarly, the number of takeoffs and landings rose from 17,624 in 2010 to 31,388 in 2024, with 5 million passengers utilizing the airport in 2024.

Ercan Airport is regularly inspected by "Turkey's DHMİ" and the "Turkish Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM)" to ensure compliance with ICAO standards.

The statement also noted that the airport features a seven-vehicle fire brigade with CAT9 services and can accommodate aircraft such as the A330 and A350.
