Population of South Cyprus Rises by 1.8%
The Statistical Institute of South Cyprus announced that the population of South Cyprus increased by 1.8% in 2023 compared to the previous year. The population rose from 949,100 in 2022 to 966,400 in 2023.
According to Alithia newspaper, the birth rate in 2023 was recorded at 1.4%, with 10,241 births. Meanwhile, the number of deaths in the same year totaled 6,742.
The report also highlighted migration statistics. In 2023, 37,558 individuals, including Cypriots and foreign nationals staying for over a year for work purposes, moved to South Cyprus. Conversely, 26,979 people left the country for destinations abroad.
