Cevdet Yılmaz: Planned Development is a Crucial Step for TRNC's Prosperity

Speaking at the event where the 4th Development Plan was shared with the public, Yılmaz stressed that the cooperation between TRNC and Turkey continues in all areas and that the prepared development plan will provide a significant foundation for the welfare of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Yılmaz noted the great importance of planned development for both individuals and countries, stating, "In countries with a free market economy, the nature of planning may vary, but planning is necessary in any case. What matters is how you do it." He expressed his happiness with the prominence of the planned development approach in the TRNC, recalling that three development plans covering the periods 1978-1982, 1982-1988, and 1993-1997 were implemented, and that the implementation of the fourth plan today is an important step.

Yılmaz emphasized the deep-rooted ties between Turkey and the TRNC, stating, "This is not just a political relationship, but a brotherhood story with roots deep in history." He stressed that the TRNC has never compromised its freedom, saying, "This determination is embodied in the TRNC flag. These lands have been forged with great sacrifices."

Highlighting that independence is not only a legal concept but also that economic strength is vital for the sustainability of independence, Yılmaz recalled Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's words, "No matter how great military victories are, they are doomed to remain incomplete unless crowned with economic victories."

"Therefore, we must advocate for acting independently," said Yılmaz, expressing his belief that the TRNC will build a stronger future with a sustainable economy.
