Kürşad and Kaçmaz Resign from Miracle Spor TV: Neutrality Compromised

Amid allegations of match-fixing in Turkish Cypriot football, the journalists announced their resignation, stating that neutrality at Miracle Spor TV had been compromised.

According to their statement, during a program aired last night, they found themselves in an unwanted setup but chose to provide their honest commentary instead of leaving. Kürşad and Genç Kaçmaz emphasized that their 70 years of combined professional experience could not be part of any manipulation regarding the ongoing match-fixing investigation.

"We wouldn't attribute such a situation to ourselves or any other sports journalist," they said, announcing that they would continue their commentary on Haber Kıbrıs and other platforms. They expressed their belief that the biased attitude at Miracle Spor TV would not be accepted by the Cypriot football community, affirming their commitment to maintaining neutrality and integrity.

Their statement reads:

"While match-fixing allegations are on the agenda in Turkish Cypriot football, it is our primary duty as impartial sports writers to understand, explain, and comment on this within the framework of legal principles.

Miracle Spor TV, which has made significant investments in live broadcasts of Turkish Cypriot football, unfortunately, lost its neutrality in last night's program, and we found ourselves in an unwanted scenario.

Leaving the program was an option, but we chose to stay and comment on what we knew to be true based on the existing allegations.

Given our 70 years of collective service to Turkish Cypriot football, it is inconceivable that we would be part of a setup that could influence the outcome of an ongoing match-fixing investigation.

We completed the program last night, but we reiterated our commitment that such behavior will not be tolerated in Turkish Cypriot sports.

This morning, we announce our decision to resign from our positions at Miracle Spor TV. We do not believe the Cypriot football community will tolerate those who think they can broadcast with such an approach.

As sports journalists, we will continue to speak the truth, be on the side of integrity, and maintain our neutrality on Haber Kıbrıs and every platform where we have a voice."
