First Hearing in Minimum Wage Lawsuit Held
The first hearing in the lawsuit filed by the Hür-İş Federation against the 7.5% minimum wage increase took place today. The court decided to postpone the next hearing to February 17th.
In a statement following the hearing, Hür-İş Federation President Ahmet Serdaroğlu stated that the necessary evidence was presented to the court by the federation’s lawyer, Şefik Aşçıoğulları.
Serdaroğlu emphasized that, following the application made to the court last week, the government’s decision to restrict the legal rights of those living on minimum wage is unlawful. He stated, “Cost of living allowance is clearly stipulated in the law, and its non-payment is unlawful. We will fight against this illegal decision until the end.”
