51 Accidents in a Week: 1 Dead, 14 Injured

According to the report from the Police General Directorate covering February 10-12, a total of 51 traffic accidents took place in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Of these, one resulted in death, 10 involved injuries, and 40 caused property damage. A total of 14 people were injured in the accidents.

The main causes of accidents were listed as: speeding (15), reckless driving (10), failure to stop at intersections (11), tailgating (10), and other factors (5).

The total estimated damage from these accidents amounted to 2,154,815 TL. The distribution of accidents by district was as follows:

• Nicosia: 20
• Kyrenia: 14
• Famagusta: 12
• İskele: 3
• Güzelyurt: 2

Meanwhile, during this week's traffic inspections, police checked 13,002 drivers. As a result, 2,314 drivers were reported for violations, 240 vehicles were banned from traffic, and 12 drivers were arrested.
