Passenger Numbers at Ercan Airport Increase by 22.54% in First Two Months of 2025

Ercan Airport, the main gateway of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to the world, continues to experience growth in passenger and flight numbers compared to the first two months of last year.

As the largest airport on the island of Cyprus in terms of area, Ercan stands out with its comfort and service quality. Operating 24/7, the airport prioritizes environmental sustainability and energy efficiency, ensuring the best possible experience for travelers through eco-friendly applications and modern interior conditions.
According to a statement from T&T Airport Management, passenger numbers at Ercan Airport rose by 22.54% between January 1 and February 28, 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, while the number of flights increased by 23.48%.
The expansion of the airport’s runway to 3,000 meters, allowing wide-body aircraft to land on the new strip, has been a key factor in this increase. Additionally, Turkish Airlines' introduction of Airbus A350 flights to Ercan, along with new routes launched by SunExpress and other airlines, has significantly contributed to the rise in passenger numbers.
Passenger and Flight Numbers Continue to Rise
In the first two months of 2024, Ercan Airport handled 676,835 passengers. This figure climbed to 829,400 during the same period in 2025.
Similarly, aircraft traffic also saw a surge, with 4,442 flights recorded in the first two months of 2024, compared to 5,485 in the corresponding period of 2025.
Month-by-Month Passenger Growth
In January 2024, Ercan Airport served 334,510 passengers, a number that increased to 443,811 in January 2025. In February, the passenger count rose from 342,325 in 2024 to 395,589 in 2025.
