Special Committee Formed to Review MP Emrah Yeşilırmak’s Immunity

A special parliamentary committee has been established to assess the request for lifting the immunity of UBP MP Emrah Yeşilırmak, who is implicated in the ongoing "fake diploma" investigation at Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (KSTÜ).

Although Yeşilırmak enjoys parliamentary immunity, allegations that his diploma is fraudulent have led to discussions about revoking his immunity.
In previous statements, Yeşilırmak had declared that if there were doubts about the authenticity of his diploma, he would not object to the removal of his immunity.
The committee was formed to examine the case and oversee the legal process.
Speaker of Parliament Ziya Öztürkler confirmed that the Attorney General’s investigation file had been submitted to the Parliament and assured that the proceedings would follow the regulations outlined in the Parliamentary Rules of Procedure.
