Letimbiotis: "We Will Not Approve Anything Outside the Agreed Framework"

Greek Cypriot Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letimbiotis reaffirmed that the Greek Cypriot side remains committed to the solution framework set by the international community. He emphasized that the aim of the Geneva conference is to restart negotiations.

Speaking following a Greek Cypriot Cabinet meeting, Letimbiotis addressed the Cyprus issue and energy matters, as reported by Haravgi newspaper.
"NO APPROVAL FOR ANYTHING OUTSIDE THE AGREED FRAMEWORK"
Letimbiotis reiterated that the Greek Cypriot side remains committed to a bizonal, bicommunal federation with political equality, as repeatedly endorsed by the international community, the United Nations, and the UN Security Council.
Stating that they "will not approve anything outside the agreed framework," he asserted that the only goal of the Geneva conference should be to resume negotiations from where they left off.
He added that they will participate in the conference "fully aware of the statements made by the Turkish Cypriot side and with the necessary and realistic preparation." Letimbiotis emphasized the significance of the Geneva meeting, held under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General, describing it as a high-value and highly important multilateral conference.
He further noted that, given the international and regional developments, the UN Secretary-General’s continued engagement with the Cyprus issue reflects his commitment to restarting negotiations—a commitment that the Greek Cypriot side continues to support.
Responding to a question on whether President Ersin Tatar’s demands constitute a "red line" for the Greek Cypriot side, Letimbiotis stated: "This is not just a red line for us but also for the international community."
"ELECTRICITY CABLE PROJECT ON HOLD"
In a separate report, the newspaper wrote that the undersea electricity cable project between Greece and South Cyprus remains suspended.
According to Letimbiotis, the project is still under evaluation by the contractor company ADMIE.
When asked whether the issue would be discussed at the Greece-Egypt-South Cyprus Foreign Ministers' meeting in Athens, Letimbiotis stated that he had no information indicating it would be on the agenda.
