Speaking after the meeting, Üstel confirmed that the delegation would travel to Geneva on Sunday. He emphasized the importance of unity in the negotiations, stating, “We will support our President. We see this as a goodwill meeting. Our focus will be on bringing both sides closer and determining where we can establish common ground.”

Highlighting the energy issue as a key topic, Üstel pointed out that both northern and southern Cyprus face energy challenges. He argued that while the Greek Cypriot administration has a long way to go before integrating into the interconnected system, a solution via Turkey would be both cost-effective and time-efficient.

"WE MUST CREATE A STABLE GROUND FOR FUTURE TALKS"

Üstel also criticized external pressures on various sectors, asserting that certain actors were attempting to intimidate people. He stressed the importance of laying a solid foundation for future negotiations, stating, “We must establish a firm ground to carry forward upcoming discussions. We are approaching this with goodwill, and we hope to return with a favorable outcome for our country.”
