Başçeri Presents Credentials to President Tatar

President Ersin Tatar received Turkey’s newly appointed Ambassador to Nicosia, Ali Murat Başçeri, in an official ceremony where Başçeri presented his credentials.

During the meeting, Tatar praised Başçeri's past contributions to the people of the TRNC and expressed confidence that he would play a key role in strengthening the ongoing struggle for an agreement based on sovereign equality.

Ambassador Başçeri was welcomed with a military ceremony upon his arrival at the Presidency. The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu.

Having previously served as Turkey’s Ambassador to Nicosia between November 1, 2018, and November 23, 2022, Başçeri is well-acquainted with the political and social landscape of the TRNC.

President Tatar emphasized Başçeri’s significant past contributions to the TRNC and expressed his belief that the ambassador would further strengthen efforts toward a settlement based on sovereign equality. Tatar also extended his gratitude to former Ambassador Yasin Ekrem Serim for his service.

Highlighting the importance of securing recognition for sovereign equality, Tatar noted that his recent visit to Ankara ahead of the Geneva Summit had reinforced his resolve. Wishing Başçeri success in his new role, Tatar concluded his remarks.

In his address, Ambassador Başçeri expressed his deep honor in representing Turkey in the TRNC once again. He reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening the unique ties between the two countries and pledged to do his utmost to enhance bilateral relations.
