Ministry of Interior: Anastasia Melega Had Preliminary Work Authorization, Process Was Ongoing

The Ministry of Interior has issued a statement regarding Anastasia Melega, who was found dead at Prenses Nightclub, clarifying that she had previously worked at Lipstick Nightclub with a valid work permit before moving to Prenses Nightclub under a "preliminary authorization" status, with her legal procedures still in progress.

The circumstances surrounding Melega’s employment status have sparked debate, with CTP MP Doğuş Derya alleging that she was working without proper registration and calling on authorities for transparency.
In response, the Ministry of Interior stated that Melega had legally entered the TRNC with a work permit on previous occasions and was in the process of obtaining the necessary approvals for her latest employment.
According to information from the Commission for Nightclubs and Similar Entertainment Venues, the ministry outlined Melega’s employment history as follows:
- August 4, 2023 – October 24, 2023: Worked at Lipstick Nightclub as a "hostess" with a valid work permit, with social security contributions paid.
- December 28, 2023 – March 27, 2024: Returned to Lipstick Nightclub under the same status, with social security contributions duly made.
- February 14, 2025: Entered the TRNC to work at Prenses Nightclub as a "hostess" under "preliminary authorization," with social security and work permit processes still ongoing at the time of her death.
The ministry further emphasized that apart from these dates, Melega had no recorded entries or exits from the TRNC, had not been granted any additional permits, and had no registered social security contributions beyond the stated periods.
