Informal Cyprus Conference has started in Geneva

The expanded-format informal Cyprus conference, hosted by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, has begun in Geneva. Leaders from both sides of the island, along with officials from Turkey, Greece, and the UK, are attending the talks, which aim to address the long-standing Cyprus issue.

The expanded-format informal Cyprus conference, held under the auspices of United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, has begun in Geneva.

Before the conference, a family photo was taken, and the press was allowed to capture images from the conference hall.

The conference is taking place at the UN Geneva Office, Palais des Nations, AC Building, Room Salle III. Participants include UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, President Ersin Tatar, Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, and UK Minister of State for Europe and North America Stephen Doughty, all accompanied by their respective delegations.

Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu is also attending the conference alongside President Tatar.

According to the program, the informal conference will commence with an opening speech by the UN Secretary-General. Following his remarks, Greek Cypriot leader Christodoulides will speak first, followed by President Tatar, Greek Foreign Minister Gerapetritis, Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan, and UK Minister Doughty.

The closing session of the conference is scheduled between 14:30 and 15:00.

After the conference, President Tatar will hold a press briefing at the UN office for international news agencies.
